A kickstart in the Merchant Navy began after the completion of my pre-sea training from TS Rahaman, Mumbai after which I sailed as a cadet with Barbership Management.
As a cadet,I got the privilege to sail on various ships including a Car Carrier, Self Unloader and Oil/Ore Carrier.
After completing cadetship in Barber ship management, I’ve sailed on Bergesen Vessels from 3rd officer to the rank of Master.
Have cleared my 2nd mates exam from LBS College, Mumbai.
Completed Mates and Masters from Southampton, United Kingdom.
I ranked up to Masters from Fleetwood, United Kingdom.
I served as a Captain, sailed on various vessel’s including ice class vessel’s, VLOC, Oil/ Ore carriers, etc.
Had the opportunity to be Master of the biggest Bulk carrier in the world (Berge Stahl).
Took a sabbatical leave as a Captain and decided to start this venture, sea-connect.
Currently I am also an ISM auditor carrying out various ISM/ISPS internal audits and Nav Audits.
Years of sailing experience made me realise that there was a need to build a common platform to bring all the sea farers of any rank together and connect them at any time all over the world.
Sea-connect is a social media platform exclusively for seafarers which connects seafarers worldwide. Being absolutely available to our aspiring seafarers is one of the great deals that makes sea-connect stand out.
Seafarers can connect with fellow seafarers, search, socialize, chat, share experiences at sea, share pictures, read latest news, and avail exclusive offers by companies & much more.
This platform is not only for sailing staff or shore based but for anyone associated with shipping including like agents, ship chandlers, shore based organization, shipping companies, training institutes, suppliers or anyone having any association or wants to get associated with shipping.
I truly wish you have a delightful experience on this platform laid down for you.
Wishing you all the luck in your shipping endeavours. May strong winds seek forth your sails. Bon Voyage SAILORS!!!
Regards,
Capt. Rohit Sharma
