PM KEEPS ALL GUESSING: THIS SUNDAY, THINKING OF GIVING UP SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTSWith 53.3 million followers on Twitter, 35.2 million on Instagram, 4.51million on YouTube and 44.73 million on Facebook, Prime Minister NarendraModi is one of the most popular world leaders on social media platforms, andhas been a pioneer in using it for political communication. But on Monday night, Modi kept everyone guessing when he put out a post:"This Sunday, thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook,Twitter, Instagram & YouTube. Will keep you all posted."The first political reaction to the announcement came from Congress leaderRahul Gandhi. "Give up hatred, not social media accounts," he tweeted. This drew a sharp response from Tripura Chief Minister and BJP leader BiplabKumar Deb who replied to Rahul Gandhi: "So that's the reason Sonia Gandhidoesn't have any Social Media account?".Modi's announcement is startling given how he has gone the extra mile toengage with tech leaders. In 2014, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg came toIndia and discussed digital expansion in the country. In 2015, the PM wentto Facebook headquarters for a town hall, where he teared up discussing hislate father and elderly mother. "Social media changed my thought process andconnected me to the rest of the world. And as I started connecting, theworld started accepting me as I was. Nothing could be more satisfying," hesaid there. At his meetings with BJP parliamentarians and even Chief Ministers, Modiinsisted they create Twitter and Facebook accounts to connect with people atthe ground level and to improve efficiency in implementation of governmentschemes. In fact, one of the tasks of the Chief Ministers when they came forthe BJP CMs' meetings in the national capital was to give a detailed accountof their activities on social media.

Not atthe private hospital in Lucknow where she had delivered her first child fouryears ago, or even in the state capital - but the government districthospital in Godda, where she is the Deputy Commissioner, over 320 kmnortheast of Ranchi. The C-section delivery at 9.51 am Sunday of Kiran Pasi's second child, aboy, is now being celebrated by doctors at the hospital, state officials -and even the Chief Minister. While Pasi is still being monitored, the Godda hospital's civil surgeon,Shiv Prasad Mishra, said: "It was not the result of an emergency but aconscious decision. DC Pasi was working to improve health facilities in thedistrict, and this will bring more trust in government services."It was a sentiment echoed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Taking to Twitter,Soren wrote that "your efforts to show that health facilities in the stateare capable is praiseworthy"."This is not just a news item but a positive response towards improvement inhealth services," said Health Minister Banna Gupta."One must appreciate that she has faith in the system. People are talkingbecause she is a DC, but one has to understand that the overall system hasimproved and is competent enough to respond," said Jharkhand's PrincipalSecretary, Health, Nitin Madan Kulkarni.KOHLI WARNS: 'WILL SHOW THEM WHEN THEY COME TO INDIA'India skipper Virat Kohli was yesterday heard telling his teammates thatthey will show the Kiwis their place when they tour India next. At this Kohli said: "Iam asking you the answer. You need to find out exactly what happened andthen come back with a better question.
