Cyclone Nisarga, which has now intensified into a severe cyclonic storm made landfall between Murud and Revdanda in Maharashtra’s Raigad district.
Indian Meteorological Department has said that the Cyclone Nisarga has become a severe cyclonic storm. The cyclone is moving towards the western coastal regions of the nation and is currently placed at least 250 kms from Mumbai. Coastal Karnataka and the Marathwada regions will be seeing light to moderate rainfall in the next six hours. Isolated places in Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigad districts may also receive heavy rainfall.
Cyclone Nisarga has put the BMC on high alert as the state battles the pandemic while facing a severe cyclone. Both the airport and the shipping authorities have taken measures to minimise the impact of the storm. BMC has asked people to not spread disinformation.
